‘House of the Dragon’ Fans Think It’s ‘Cooked’ After George RR Martin’s Suspicious Post

On July 9, George RR Martin posted a blog entry in which he informed fans about his foreign travels and added that he has “no plans” to meet with the creators of Season 3 of “House of The Dragon.”

People working on the script and plot outline for the next season of the Game of Thrones spin-off series are meeting in London at the same time as Martin, but the author will not be present.

Martin serves as an executive producer on the show and has stated on his blog that he was involved in early discussions about a third and fourth season of the show in late 2023. However, the writer seems too busy to stop and help the writing team nail down final details about the next season.

“The HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 3 writers’ meeting will also be held in London, but I don’t plan on attending,” he wrote on the blog, before describing his trip.

Fans have taken this line to mean that Martin either wants to distance himself from the show or intends to disassociate himself from it once the show reaches its later seasons.

One fan posted a blog on the House of the Dragon subreddit and asked why the author even bothered to publicly mention the post.

“I think this is his way of saying he’s not behind the changes made to the show. He praised the first two episodes of the season, but focused more on the actors than the writing… At this point he just gave up. I think we’re seeing a repeat of what happened in GOT,” the top comment read.

The commenter admitted that he was allowed to post his opinions about the show, but others were quick to point out that the post indicated a future decline in the show’s quality.

“We’re cooked, my mates. Absolutely cooked,” another fan said.

Fans will have to wait and see what Martin’s more definitive stance, or at least more than just one sentence, will be on the show’s overall quality as season two continues to unfold.
