Sharon Stone will receive the Gold Cariddi Lifetime Achievement Award at the Taormina Film Festival during the closing night of the Italian event later this month.

Stone joins a prestigious group of actors to receive the award, including Jessica Lange, Robert De Niro, Tom Cruise, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman, Richard Gere, Colin Firth and Isabelle Huppert.

The 66-year-old actress will be at the Taormina Film Festival, which runs from July 12 to 19, to discuss how she “redefined what it means to be a woman on screen,” according to a press release. It will be Stone’s first appearance at the festival, which hosted the Italian premiere of her 1992 film Basic Instinct.

Stone first appeared on screen in a cameo in Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories in 1980, and then became a full-fledged movie star in the 1990s with roles in Total Recall opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Quick and the Dead with Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese’s Casino, for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress and an Oscar nomination. Her other credits include The Mighty, The Muse, Catwoman, Basic Instinct 2, The Disaster Artist and The Laundromat, and she won an Emmy Award in 2004 for her guest appearance on the legal drama The Practice. Her most recent film was the romantic drama What About Love.

This year’s Taormina Film Fest will kick off with the premiere of the horror comedy “Saint Clare” starring Bella Thorne, as well as the Italian premiere of the sequel to the disaster film “Twisters.”
