Football is back! Also cider tastings and more this weekend

Have you ever seen a video of all the guys dancing to different NFL theme songs? I’ll be celebrating the return of professional football this weekend, but the Hawks’ return to Lumen Field on Sunday is just one of many events this weekend.

This weekend marks the 25th anniversary of SketchFest Seattle, and you can catch three nights of sketch comedy at the Market Theater. The event’s website calls it the original sketch comedy festival in the world, and it will feature groups from all over the country. Tickets for individual shows are $15, and you can see the entire weekend for $50. More details on the SketchFest website.

We’ve heard a lot about beer festivals and beer, but what about celebrating cider? That’s happening this weekend at Cider Summit Seattle in South Lake Union. The event will take place Friday and Saturday and will feature about 150 ciders from 40 different producers. Arrive early on Saturday for a pre-opening tasting of cider, cheese and charcuterie

If you want to learn more about how cider is made, head to Fort Nisqually for the Traditional Harvest Festival. There, you can pick apples and make cider, do crafts with your family, and sample foods from the past. If you’re someone who makes your own jam or jelly, enter it in the contest. Georgetown is hosting the Italian Street Festival this weekend. The San Gennaro Festival will be held on South Angelo Street and will feature Italian food and other treats, a beer and wine garden, fun for kids, and of course live music. If you want to see the parade, it’s Saturday at 11 a.m. One of the attractions for kids is the Kids Talent Show on Saturday. Don’t worry about admission, it’s free. In Lakewood, Fiesta De La Familia takes place Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and features food, crafts, live music and a horse-dancing show. There will be plenty of activities for kids and a children’s parade at 3 p.m. More details on the city of Lakewood website.

Everyone loves a good cat movie, so why not watch the best cat movies at the very cool local cinema, Grand Illusion. It won’t just be classic cat movies, there will be animations and music videos, and it’s all for a good cause. A portion of ticket sales will go to help local cats in need, and if anyone is interested, there will be information about adopting a cat. Details on the Grand Illusion website.

The International Ukrainian Festival will be held in Bellevue on Saturday. The website says it is the largest Ukrainian cultural event on the West Coast, authentic Ukrainian food, opportunities to learn about Ukrainian customs, stage performances and more! The Seattle Center’s Festal program embraces Hawaiian culture at this weekend’s event. The Love Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival will take place Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Eat Hawaiian food, make crafts to create ornaments and more. Details are available on the Seattle Center website.
