An air quality warning was issued for Oregon on Friday.

The air quality advisory was issued at 9:58 p.m. Thursday and is in effect until 1:30 p.m. Friday for the Tualatin Valley, West Hills and Chehalem Mountains, Inner Portland metropolitan area, East Portland metropolitan area, Outer Southeast Portland metropolitan area, West Central Willamette Valley and East Central Willamette Valley.

“The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality continues to issue an air quality advisory until 8 p.m. Friday. An air quality advisory for ozone remains in effect. High levels of ozone in the region’s lower atmosphere, combined with forecast conditions, will cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels at times until 8 p.m. Friday. Smoke from regional wildfires is also negatively impacting air quality. Pollutants can cause burning eyes, runny noses, worsening heart and lung conditions, and other serious health problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if there is smoke. Follow the advice of a physician if you have heart or lung disease,” according to the National Weather Service.
