Culturalfest opens its first day in Princeton

PRINCETON, WV (WVVA) – The World Music and Arts Cultural Festival returns this year to downtown Princeton in the Grassroots District.

Festival-goers enjoy a variety of activities including yoga classes, storytelling sessions, hoop dancing and immersive conversations, as well as local and international music and dance artists.

The festival aims to provide a rich cultural experience, encouraging participants to think about different perspectives and explore new ways of seeing the world.

Born in Princeton City Park in 2004, the festival moved to Pipestem for a unique camping experience before returning to its roots in the heart of Princeton for the past 18 years.

Event organizer Lori McKinney is thrilled to be back where it all began.

“It’s fitting that we’re going back to our roots here in the heart of the city and that the 21st annual event is an opportunity to share the experience with the public and make it free this year,” McKinney said. “I hope that more people will have access to it and be able to reach more people who may not have had this experience before.”

The festival continues until September 8.
