In the spotlight: Kayson Harris of Gladewater

GLADEWATER, Texas (KLTV) – Gladewater’s Kayson Harris plays his sport with passion and has no problem leading the way. In his first win of the season against Daingerfield, Harris put on a show of determination. Listed as a tight end, a physical position, he had all of that and a nice MJ spin move to carry… no, drag… defenders into the end zone.

“In huddle they said 120, 123, throw the game out, I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I have to, I have to do something here,’ and then I caught the ball and I saw an open field. I saw it was more open to the left. The cutoff, and then this guy came to hit me. I’m on the 10-yard line or something like that, and then the way he hit me. I just reacted, I twisted around, and then, of course, when they tried to take me down, my teammates behind me came and pushed me. Really exciting play,” Harris said.

His coach had nothing but praise for Harris.

“You know, he’s one of those kids that when we go into the game, we try to give him the ball and when he gets it, he’s going to do something with it. He plays an unselfish position in terms of him blocking a lot, you don’t see his name in the paper a lot. He had a chance to make some plays last Thursday. He did exactly what we expected him to do,” coach Johnny Louvier said.
