TORRANCE, CA – The Sri Panchamukha Hanuman Temple and Religious Academy hosted a vibrant celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day with the event titled “Jai Ho.” The celebration blended patriotism, Bollywood flair, and environmental awareness, drawing in over 300 participants who showcased their talents through cultural performances, including traditional dances, songs, yoga demonstrations, and speeches.

A standout feature of the event was the “Parade of States,” which visually celebrated the diversity of India’s regions, highlighting the rich cultural traditions across the country. The celebration also included captivating flag dances set to the iconic songs “Jai Ho” and “Vande Mataram,” evoking a deep sense of national pride and unity.

In addition to the patriotic-themed performances, the event featured a thought-provoking act titled “Saving Mother Earth,” which resonated with attendees and dignitaries alike, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation.

One of the most touching moments of the day was the exchange of American and Indian flags, followed by the singing of both national anthems, symbolizing unity and shared values between the two nations.

The event also honored two exceptional individuals—a veteran from the Indian Air Force and a young community volunteer—continuing the tradition of recognizing those who have made significant contributions to society.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, a vibrant marketplace offered unique finds, from jewelry and ethnic clothing to mouthwatering culinary delights. Children enjoyed carnival-style activities, including sweet treats and a thrilling 65-foot obstacle course.

Building on the success of last year’s event, which drew over 1,500 attendees, this year’s celebration continued to be a highly anticipated gathering. Dignitaries such as Torrance City Mayor George Chen, Council Members Asam Sheikh, Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce President Donna Dupperron, and Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor John Cruikshank were in attendance, showing their support for the community.

In their speeches, the dignitaries praised the Sri Panchamukha Hanuman Temple Board and Executive Committee for their tireless efforts in organizing such a remarkable event. The meticulous planning and dedication of the team were evident throughout the day.

Narasimha Aacharya, the founder of the Sri Panchamukha Hanuman Temple, proudly announced the temple’s acquisition of Dhivya Dham, its new home. He emphasized the temple’s contributions to the community since its founding in 2014 and urged continued support as they embark on this exciting new chapter.
