Beijing Marigold Festival 2024

The Beijing Marigold Festival is now underway and will run through September 8 at Mineral Springs Park in Beijing. This year’s theme is “Marigold Rockin’ The Bicentennial,” and the event will feature a carnival, a parade, festival food, live entertainment, and more. Elmwood Fall Festival

The town of Elmwood will hold its annual Fall Festival on September 5-7 at the town square in the historic downtown. The event will feature carnival rides each night; live music from Press Play from 7-10 p.m. Friday, the Morrisey Minivan from 4-6 p.m. Saturday and Common Ground from 8-11 p.m. Saturday; and a Medieval Times-themed parade at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Cattle auction at the Children’s Home

The 59th Annual Livestock Auction to Benefit the Children’s Home Association of Illinois will be held Friday, September 6 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Venue Chisca, 1009 SW Washington St. The live auction will feature luxury tours, curated experiences and favorite foods. There will also be a barbecue dinner and live music by country music artist DJ DU. Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased online at www.chail.org.

Annual Cat Show at Expo Gardens

The American Gothic Annual Cat Show will be held Saturday, September 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Exposition Gardens, 1601 Northmoor Road. Come see over 100 pedigree and domestic cats competing for the title of best cat in various judging rings throughout the day. Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and children 5-12, and children 4 and under are free.

Marching Band Competition in Washington

Enjoy an afternoon and evening of music, competition and fun at the 36th annual WCHS Marching Panther Invitational on Saturday, September 7 at Babcook Field, 115 Bondurant St., Washington. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., and performances begin at 12:16 p.m. Twenty-seven high school marching bands from across the state will compete in the 2024 Marching Band Field Showcase. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.
