Metronet announced that its ultra-fast, 100% fiber-optic internet is starting to be available to residents and businesses in Omaha, Douglas County and surrounding communities. Metronet’s presence in Nebraska marks the 17th state in which the company has built and operated its customer-friendly, all-fiber service, a move that builds on the company’s westward expansion.

The 24-month construction process for the Metronet network in Douglas County began earlier this summer, and customers in the initial construction areas now have access to Metronet internet services at speeds of up to five gigabits per second for homes and ten gigabits per second for businesses.

Metronet will equip Omaha residents and businesses with the fastest, 100% fiber multi-gigabit speeds in the country. By accessing Metronet directly from their home or business, consumers can enjoy symmetrical upload and download speeds.

As construction progresses, Omaha residents will continue to see Metronet trucks in the area. Residents will receive construction information in the mail 30 days prior to the start date. Additional notices, such as yard signs, will also inform residents of upcoming construction. Metronet crews will be identified by their nameplates and branded vehicles.
