JH Rose High School wide receiver Quinn McCaffrey

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – In today’s Pepsi Sports Spotlight we introduce you to JH Rose High School football wide receiver Quinn McCaffrey – who says they suffered two losses so far this season but believes in the strength of his team.

McCaffrey is a senior at JH Rose High School. He has been playing football since 7th grade and fell in love with the sport in high school when he transitioned from offensive line to out-wide, he says it’s a whole different feel when you are scoring.

McCaffrey says the biggest thing he has learned from the game of football is practiced off the field.

“First off, you have to be a team and you have to come together. But also take care of your body, it’s a long season and if you don’t stay healthy it’s hard to play all 10 games,” McCaffrey said.

According to JH Rose football coach, Will Bland, he has seen an incredible transformation in just one year from one of his best players. McCaffrey is very versatile.

“He is in better shape, has better knowledge of the game, great route running, he can catch the ball and do a lot on offense as well. You can put him on defense and he commands that back end as well,” Bland said.

McCaffrey graduates in the summer of 2025 and he has a message for the younger players that’s been his mantra.

“Take care of yourself and love your teammates, you got to. If you aren’t together it’s hard to win football games,” McCaffrey said.

Coach Bland commends him for being such a great role model for all the younger players they have coming up.

“He is a four-point-four student, he does what he is supposed to do in the classroom. “He loves football but it is not his life he knows that he has to make sure he is on top of his other game to get to that aspect of being a great football player,” Bland said.

According to Mccaffrey, although the first two games so far have not been the best, there’s a lot of talent on the team between the speed and senior leadership.
