Despite protests, Donald Trump’s impeachment of violating federal election law is justified: Mark R. Brown

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Donald Trump’s sentencing date in New York is in two weeks. Trump was convicted of falsifying his business records to conceal hush money his lawyer Michael Cohen paid to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Falsifying business records is a misdemeanor under New York state law, but when done to conceal another crime, it becomes a felony. Because Trump’s payment to a third party violated the Federal Election Campaign Act, falsifying his business records to conceal it was a felony under New York state law.

Thirty-four crimes to be exact.
