Change is coming for the incredibly fast, talented, Irish thrash metal-based band Gama Bomb. About five years after their long-time drummer Paul Caffrey left the band, they have officially filled the gap with a full-time drummer, hiring their own drummer Chris Williams.

Williams has been playing with Gama Bomb on their live shows since 2021. During that time, he has traveled across Europe and Asia on various dates over the years, while Decapitated drummer James Stewart played on both of their 2020 shows Sea savage and last year BAT.

With the band set to begin work on their ninth studio album, set to be released in the future via Prosthetic Records, frontman Philly Byrne said it was the perfect time to officially confirm Williams’ addition to the band.

“Change in Gama Bomb can be slow going – we’ve all been friends for so long it’s hard to break through, but Chris is such a great and easygoing guy to hang out with and has made the band so much better live, we’d be fools not to make it official. Chris is a beast behind the drum kit, he brings so much energy, good humour and professionalism to the band and we’re excited to start making albums with him!”

In addition to his work with Gama Bomb, Williams also plays in Shrapnel and British thrash metal band Struck A Nerve. Having spent so much time with the rest of the Gama Bomb guys, Williams said he’s excited to see what’s next.

“I’m thrilled to be an official member of Gama Bomb. It was a great tour with the guys and we’ve become great friends – can’t wait for the future! Sure, bro!”

Speaking of what’s next, in addition to the new album they’re currently working on, the band also has plans to release Survival of the Fastestdocumentary about the band by director Kiran Acharya. The film will screen at British and European film festivals and is set for final release in 2025.
